The Terrible Tragedy of Wasting Everything on Nothing at All

an unreleased animated film

The Terrible Tragedy of Wasting Everything on Nothing at All is an animated film I made from paint and paper last summer. For some reason I have never shared it publicly, except for at a studio screening I did a few months ago where I also showed this music video that people resonated with much much more. I have a little sadness that attaches to all my most niche art projects - the ideas that do not communicate themselves as generally. They make complete sense to me but feel half stuck in my world, missing the kind of “how to understand this artwork manual” that make things more ubiquitously resonant. But these are also the projects that leave me feeling so deeply connected with the people that do resonate. Part of the journey of being an artist is making peace with the way that some works are made for thousands of people and others for about five. I have a special song I made this year and every time I play it for a friend they say “why don’t you share this song??” And then I say “I am sharing this song, right now, to you!” The song is an art piece that is meant to play to just one other person who I love very much. Intimacy is a very interesting canvas to play with, as is virality. This music video I made mostly just for my Dad! All the ways to share a piece of your heart.

Anyways, here is this film I made – a little piece of my world with barely any extra translation.

Let me know what you think!

Yours,

Tala

P.S. If you live in New York I’m having an art show June 27th called Explations. Come say hi!
